Question by heather: For registered Sex Offenders - is there a law or a distance that they can't live near a school?

In California - I know there is a law on the ballot to have registered sex offendered not live within 2000 of a school. Is there a law in place right now that they can't not live with in a certain distance to a school.

We are looking at a house with a registered sex offender living in the neighborhood. But the house is near a school. Will this person have to move?
In California there is a vote on the ballot that says a registered sex offender can not live within 2000 yards of a school. If there is a sex offender living in that area. Will they have to move?
